Working in partnership beats going at it alone. The Harold Mitchell Foundation's Australia Gives initiative is designed bring together a range of partners (including individuals, trusts, the private sector and, where possible, government) to fund programs and institutions that have a real capacity to make difference.
Harold Mitchell, AC and his family have a long history of philanthropic giving and want to take an increasingly active leadership role in the philanthropic community. This will include using networks and public engagement to raise awareness of issues and inspire people to take them on. The Harold Mitchell Foundation believes that success in this area will depend on effective leadershipa focus on outcomes, a well-defined business plan and innovative approaches that inspire others.
In implementing Australia Gives, the Harold Mitchell Foundation has employed staff with the expertise required to seek out programs and institutions that can make a real and sustainable difference in the areas of health, education and the arts.
We will form solid partnerships with the organisations we select to work with. For this reason we will only manage a limited number of partnerships at any one time. We will work with our partners to report results, share excellence, innovation and learning, and promote Australia as a country that is serious about philanthropy.
When an organisation receives funding as part of Australia Gives not only will it have the resources to deliver outcomes, but will receive public recognition for delivering excellence and an opportunity to share their approach to inspire others.
We have selected four organisations to partner with in the first phase of Australia Gives. These organisations actively demonstrate a strong capacity to deliver lasting results through innovative initiatives. In selecting these partners, we met with leaders and their teams, visited project sites, checked referees, and reviewed business plans.
We are actively seeking to raise funds for these initiatives, which will include funding from the Harold Mitchell Foundation. We look forward to reporting results as they are collected and share innovation of the selected projects with others.
If YOU are interested in supporting one of these projects, please contact us on info@hmfoundation.com.au and we can tell you how.
