Now based in Stockholm, Dr Megan Spencer-Smith was based at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute at the time of her Harold Mitchell Health Fellowship. The fellowship gave her a chance to meet with the neuro-paediatrician Dr Regula Everts in Switzerland, and co-organise and attend the Paediatric Satellite Symposium in Auckland.
Megan also presented at a neuropsychological conference in Auckland. “My students and I presented preliminary findings of our work examining neuropsychological outcomes in children ... with early brain lesions.”
“Building on my research skills, publishing first author papers, and establishing international collaborations are essential for me to progress in my field as a post-doctoral researcher. I think it was particularly important that I gained confidence as an independent researcher.”
“I would like to thank the Harold Mitchell Foundation for generously supporting my trip through the Travel Fellowship. It has significantly contributed to my career as an independent researcher.”
