Dr Corey Heffernan is a researcher at Rutgers University in New Jersey, who specialises in multiple sclerosis.
Awarded when he was at the Monash Institute of Medical Research (MIMR), the Harold Mitchell Health Fellowship enabled Corey to attend a leading MS conference and converse with world leaders in the field. He also presented his PhD research to leading research labs at Stanford University in California and Johns Hopkins Medical School in Baltimore.
“The opportunity to interact with eminent researchers was invaluable in gaining international exposure for my research, and initiating contacts,” says Corey The experience helped him secure a post-doctoral fellowship to work in the USA, “with a longer term view to return to MIMR to establish my own research group.”
“I sincerely thank the Harold Mitchell Foundation for making this opportunity possible.”
