The Tasmanian town of Longford has 4500 people – and not all that much to do. With help from the Harold Mitchell Foundation, the Tasmanian Association of Police and Youth Clubs is helping to change all that, by providing a safe and fun environment with specific programs for at-risk youth.
“A means of bringing the activity to the people,” the PCYC’s new “mobile activity centre” will provide a comprehensive array of programs and activities, including various martial arts, weight/aerobic training, trampolining, youth theatre, gymnastics, taiko and drumming.
Staff will also provide health and welfare information and work in close partnership with the Northern Midlands Council’s recreation team.
